The new Video Window lets you load a reference video and keep it loosely synchronized with your work in Orion. Simply drop a video file onto the window to load it. Then navigate to a sync point; from that moment onward, every time you trigger playback in Orion, the video will start from that point. This provides a quick visual reference to check how a sound works in context. Solid on Mac, experimental on Windows.
New buttons above the waveform now show channel names. Clicking a button will solo that channel. When one or more channels are soloed, spotting or dragging will select only those channels. If the setting “Spot Multi-Channel Files as Multi-Mono” is enabled, each channel will be rendered as a separate file and named appropriately so Pro Tools recognizes them as multi-mono files.
Spot To Reaper and Nuendo. Send To Orion from Reaper only.
Two new options in DAW Settings give you more control over spotting behaviour. Link To Original Media When Possible tells Orion to link to the source file rather than copy it when spotting into your session. “When possible” assumes there are no factors that would invalidate the linkage (e.g., a different project sample rate, a reversed file, or a pitch-shifted file). If any of these factors are present, Orion will fall back to copy spotting.
Enable Auto-Detect PT Audio Files Folder in DAW Settings and Orion will query Pro Tools directly for the current session's audio folder before asking you to browse for it. If Pro Tools isn't running or can't return a path (older versions might fail), it falls back to manual selection as normal. (NB: Requires Pro Tools 2022.12 or newer, Mac only)
You can now take your Orilibs with your audio content! Simply select them in the Ori Manager and click Clone—this creates a copy in your Audio Library folder. From there, just drag the folder onto Orion on any machine you like, and the app will automatically recognize and load the database.
Orion now supports Wavpack file format - no metadata yet, but you will be able to use their audio content for both similarity and magic search.
A new window has been added to help you manage, search, and inspect why certain files were discarded by the application. This provides a useful way to review and troubleshoot issues within your library.
You can now hold Ctrl while dragging a file from the main Audio File list to drag-drop the entire file into another app.
